Well our staff have had a great summer and have holidayed all over the place. So far, we have visited Spain, Croatia, Malta, Portugal, Greece, Romania, Africa and Peru. This is not to mention several different places in Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales!!!! As the sunshine is diminishing some of the more adventurous staff are looking to book their winter sport breaks.
While the rest were gallivanting a couple of staff were busy gaining their places at university to do Occupational Therapy, Languages and History. A big congratulations to Danni, Olivia and Hannah, well done guys!!
Unfortunately, we have said a sad goodbye to a couple of staff who are venturing onto pastures new. Fortunately, we have welcomed some new staff who will be working weekends and evenings at our clinics. We are lucky to have gained such a wealth of knowledge and experience to enhance the skills we have at our clinics.

At initial consultation, you can expect a thorough assessment, goal setting and a bespoke, tailored plan which is made to fit around your goals and lifestyle. You also get continued email communication/support between appointments with the Dietician.

Personal Pilates Get a full assessment / consultation and two follow up 1:1 personal sessions with a Chartered Physiotherapist for £125. Your assessment and consultation will allow for a thorough analysis of your movement patterns, your capabilities and goal setting. You are also taught the basic principles of Pilates and given some basic exercises to practice. The two follow up personal sessions are bespoke to your requirements. You have email communication with your Physiotherapist during this time and a home exercise plan written just for you.

NEW STUDIO OPEN EVENING
Our new purpose-built studio is built and just having some finishing touches put to it! We are having an Open Evening 20/09/17 between 6pm and 8pm, where we are opening the doors for you to come and see what new services we are offering, meet some staff who will be working in the studio, giving away discount vouchers and discounts off certain services, free consultations and advice. Why not come along for snacks, a glass of prosecco and celebrate with us. It would be great to see you, please let us know if you will be attending so we can prepare the bubbles for your arrival….

What is it? Who’s at risk? How is it diagnosed? How can I prevent it?
Osteoporosis is a bone condition that is caused by loss of bone mineral, this can result in some of the bones in your body less ‘dense’ and can leave you at a higher risk of fractures. We all naturally diminished bone density after the age of 30 but with diet and lifestyle choices we can prevent this being a problem.
Osteoporosis is diagnosed by having a DEXA scan which is a special type of X-ray that measures bone mineral density. You will be given one of these if you are considered at risk.
Risk factors include:
- Women under 45yr who have experienced menopause. Or women over the age of 50 and are post-menopausal
- A strong family history
- Some medical conditions and certain long-term medications
- Being very underweight
- Smoking and heavy alcohol consumption
- Sedentary lifestyle
This is a disease that can be avoided and prevented from developing further by maintaining a healthy, balanced diet and lifestyle changes. A diet rich in calcium, vitamin K, phosphorous and zinc. Vitamin D storage with healthy, safe exposure to the sunlight between April and September. Stop smoking and limit alcohol consumption. Also, weight bearing and strengthening exercise.
Basically, eat better, move more to maintain optimal bone health. For advice on diet for healthy bones and appropriate exercise why not come in and visit our Dietician and/or one of our Physiotherapists.
